Amendment to theTechnical Revision of Reclamation Plan
For River Bend Park/ Lafarge Property
Mining premit # M1979 -002 North Delta pit.
April 2013.
The following proposal is an amendment to the first Technical revision for the
reclamation plan of the gravel pit at the Lafarge property orginally known at the
North Delta pit. The City of Delta purchased the property and is currently working
on the property to developed it into a park for the residents of the area. In this
proposal we are asking for a Amendment to the City of Delta's orginal Technical
Revision. The original plan was to create a recreational area for public use. We
are trying to accomplish this through the following actions, After working on the
property we found we have a large amount of material that must be moved to
accommodate the reclamation plan. Therefore we are requesting the following.
• Build three parking areas for people to utilize the property; parking areas
would measure approximately 50,000 sq. ft. in size.
• Build roads to the parking areas and a maintenance road for the park
which will add another 3.5 to 4.5 acres. For a total of approximate of 8
acres of graveled area.
• This will also include about 2 acres of picnic and playground area. This
area will be lowered about 8ft. to allow public view of the lake for visual
safety of children or adults and making access to the lake more enjoyable.
• In addition we will add 2,600 to 3,000 ft of trails through the wooded areas
and around the lake. The trails will be 8ft. in width to provide handi -cap
accessibility and also for security and maintenance vehicles.
• Also included in the plan, is the sloping of the berms around the lake and
the sloping of the shoreline of the lake to the required 3 to 1 slope or
greater. With sloping on the North side possibly up to 10 to 1 for public
access. Also included will be a boat ramp for non motorized boats.
• Removal of waste piles, there were 6 piles of crusher fines, rejected
Asphalt, limestone, and chips. Asphalt and 2 piles have been removed
from the property, all other materials not needed for reclamaition will be
removed from the property also, and will be utilized in other areas. This
will include materials from sloping of the lake shoreline.
• Rejected asphalt was hauled off by Delta County to be recycled into its
asphalt program.
• One large pile of crusher fines and berms along river berm will be used for
the soil remediation of disturbed areas to allow grasses to grow where the
top soil was removed. In order to comply with this stipulation we are
proposing the following:
Ripping of the compacted soils in those areas, adding
approximately two inches of compost to the ground, applying
crusher fines, followed by the process of re- ripping the soil to mix
compost and an application of fertilizer, prior to planting a drought
resistant prairie type grass in those areas.
RECEIVED
RECEIVED _aoa- DM
APR 1 1 2013
APR 2 2 2013 0 GRAND JUNCTION FIELD OFFICE
Division of Redamabion, - -D Q,C\ RECLAMATION MINING & SAFETY
Wining & Safely C;kl a
