Hickenlooper
Governor
Mike King
Executive Director
Loretta E. Pineda
Director
The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has received a revision for the West Elk Mine.
The revision was called complete on April 22, 2013. The decision due date is May 2, 2013.
The Mountain Coal Company, LLC has submitted a Minor Revision to the West Elk Mine permit.
The revision proposes to add two small sites to quarry durable rock for the Refuse Pile Expansion
East (RPEE) Phase 1B buttress. This revision will not increase the permit area but will increase the
disturbed area. The Division will determine if an increase in the mine's reclamation liability is
required during the technical adequacy review.
This revision is available for review at the Gunnison County Planning Department, 201 E. Virginia,
Gunnison, CO 81230.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
James R.
