Allowable first -hit herbaceous vegetation <br />cover was 32.5 percent(Table C -4). Cover by standing dead, litter, bare soil and rock averaged 3.66, <br />37.54, 17.94 and 5.51 percent, respectively. Average species density was 25.3 species per 100 sq. m. <br />PRODUCTION <br />(Table A -2) <br />Total herbaceous production in 2012 was 847.6 pounds per acre. Of this, 339.0 pounds per acre were <br />introduced perennial cool season grasses. Native perennial cool season grasses and introduced <br />perennial forbs, contributed 217.7 and 190.9 pounds per acre respectively. Three other lifeforms were <br />present, each less than 50 pounds per acre. <br />WOODY PLANT DENSITY <br />"Background" Density <br />(Table A -3) <br />Total average "Background" woody plant density in BRB PSCM -2 was 772.96 stems per acre. Big <br />sagebrush (Seriphidium tridentatum) was the densest at 338.32 stems per acre followed by Mountain <br />snowberry (Symphoricarpos rotundifolius) with 182.52 stems per acre. Eight other species of shrub were <br />present, each with densities of 100 stems per acre or fewer. Box elder (Negundo aceroides) was also <br />present with a density of 2.43 stems per acre. <br />Concentration Area Density <br />(Table A- 4) <br />Total average "Concentration Area" woody plant density in BRB PSCM -2 was 2068.0 stems per acre. Big <br />sagebrush was the densest at 775.8 stems per acre followed by mountain snowberry with 597.7 stems <br />per acre, Wood's rose (Rosa woodsii) with 337.5 stems per acre and Saskatoon serviceberry <br />(Amelanchier alnifolia) with 185.3 stems per acre.
