OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection conducted by Tyler O'Donnell of the Division of Reclamation, Mining
and Safety (Division). Rick Spady, the mine operator's representative was present during the inspection. The
Gray Pit is located approximately 11 miles north of Arlington, Colorado. The Gray Pit is permitted as a gravel
pit. The approved permit area is 9.7 acres. The approved post- mining land use is rangeland.
The sky was clear and the ground was dry. No mining equipment was operating or present at the time of the
inspection. The last annual report indicates the site has not been operational since January 2011. The
operator's representative explained to the inspector that this site is only used occasionally for localized road
repairs. The current disturbance appeared to be approximately 2 acres. The 2 acre disturbance was
composed of an area within the channel where material had been removed and 2 product stockpiles. No
problems or violations were observed during the inspection.
PERMIT #: M -1990 -148
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: TOD
INSPECTION DATE: March 7, 2013
Hydrologic Balance:
The bottom of the river bed was dry.
