PERMIT #: M- 1992 -009
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: TC1
INSPECTION DATE: September 19, 2012
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was requested by the Operator, Gillette Sand and Gravel, Inc. as a follow -up to an Acreage
Release (AR) request of 3.24 acres received by the Division on February 9, 2012. Gillette Sand and Gravel was
represented during the inspection by Chris Pyles. The Gillette Pit site entrance is about '/ mile south of the
intersection of State Hwy 67 and County Road.
Inspection:
The primary focus of this inspection was to assess the status of the revegetation effort for area RE #9 (reference
Attachment A). Although the vegetation coverage compared to the previous inspection on March 9, 2012 is a
significant improvement (Photos 1 and 2), the vegetation is not yet established well enough to support a
decision to release this area. Some smaller areas were near releasable status, while much of the area only
demonstrated vegetation along the rows seeded by the seed drill.
Recommendations:
The Division recommends the Operator wait another growing season or two to allow the vegetation to become
established between the seed drill rows.
PHOTOGRAPHS
Photo 1.
