('`Cotter ") is providing this advance notification of a change in operating
methods that will result in a change in the composition of the injectate without resulting in any
increased potential for groundwater contamination. Cotter plans to change its operating methods
to include additional reverse osmosis (RO) retentate, from the treatment of waters that have been
collected in sumps and subsequently treated in Cotter's RO system, in the injectate returned to
the mine. The treated waters will be those which have been in transit through the alluvium, be it
actually from the mine workings or from runoff that has collected uranium while in contact with
waste rock from the mine. These new RO treatment residuals will include sand filter backwash
and other solids and slurries generated from treating these waters with the RO treatment system.
Please feel free to contact me with any comments or questions.
Sincerely yours,
Ken Mushinski
President
cc: John Hamrick, Cotter
Michael Harris, WQCD
Tom Kaldenbach, DRMS
Tony Waldron, DRMS
Cotter Corporation Telephone (720) 554 -6200
7800 E.
