Marr Mine and Loadout Apr 11, 2013
2012 Reclamation Report
3.0 BACKFILLING AND REGRADING
The only backfilling activity was done during the previous year, 2011, for the Loadout Pond
located at the Kerr Loadout site. After stripping the topsoil from the pond embankments
(described in Item 2.0 above) the embankment material was push -dozed to backfill the pond
depression and regarded to achieve surface drainage across the site.
4.0 OVERBURDEN STOCKPILES
No overburden stockpiles remain at the Marr Mine. The primary overburden stockpile at the
Marr Mine was removed and the associated disturbance area reclaimed in 1993 -94 in
conjunction with reclamation of the 720 Pit.
5.0 ROADS
In the mine area, the width of both the main entrance road to the facilities area and the access
road across Bush Draw north of County Road 12E were reduced in 1995. The remaining road
segments are classified as permanent light -use roads for post - reclamation access. The main
entrance road serving as access to the facilities area was held out of the Final Bond Release
(SL -4) by the DRMS so that they (DRMS) would have continued access to the two remaining
parcels that are not yet released at the mine site.
In 2005 Kerr requested that the temporary light use road status be changed to permanent for
the Pond G access road and 900 feet of the mine entrance road where it merges from the
intersection at CR12E with the mine entrance road. The request was in response to the BLM's
ability to retain access to their surface properties that are adjacent to the mine. Permanence for
the road segments was granted by the DRMS during 2007.
6.0 TOPSOILING AND REVEGETATION
Ponds C and G, their associated soil stock piles and ditches were reclaimed in September
2006. The approved permanent seed mix was drill- seeded at the prescribed rate. Following
seeding, the areas were mulched with certified weed free hay which was then crimped into the
soil. These ponds and associated areas were included in the SL -4 Final Bond Release
approval.
Top soiling and mulched seeding was conducted in 1999 on approximately 8 acres within the
Mine Area which included the designated disposal area (approximately 4 acres) on the
southeast edge of the shop /warehouse facilities pad and the former powder magazine area, soil
stockpile area, and associated road (approximate 4 acres). These areas were seeded in 2000
by inter - seeding the permanent seed mix into the standing mulch. The application rate was at
the prescribed rate for both grasses (11.5 pounds per acre) and shrubs and forbs (5.75 pounds
per acres).
Topsoil and revegetation activity pertaining to the Loadout site is explained in Item 2.0 above.
6.5 RILLS AND GULLIES
No rills or gullies were reported during the reporting period.
3
