We understand that this is in response to prior conversations with DRMS in regards to the letter
that was recently sent to all operators outlining the requirements for Temporary Cessation if the site is
inactive for more than one year.
However, the Glade Quarry site is unique because even though the permit was issued in 2006, mining has
not yet commenced at this site due to County permitting requirements. Therefore, according to Rule
1.13.3(2), which states that Temporary Cessation is not required if "a permit has been issued, but the
mining operation has not commenced." Glade Quarry does not need to be placed into temporary cessation
at this time.
We apologize for the confusion regarding the required status for this site, but hope that this will clarify
the issue. DRMS will process a refund of the $144 check that you submitted with the request for
temporary cessation.
If you have any questions, please contact me at 303 - 866 -3567 x8140
Thank you,
64
Eric Scott
Environmental Protection Specialist
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
