Applegate /
Group,inc.
Water Resource Advisors for the West
April 2, 2013
Mr. Berhan Keffelew
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, RM 215
Denver, CO 80203
✓ V
RE: Brannan Sand & Gravel Company Pit 29, Permit No. M- 1980 -183, Water Level Monitoring
Dear Mr. Keffelew:
Pursuant to Revision TR -3 we are submitting the monitor well measurements for the quarter ending
March 31, 2013. There were three monitor wells on the site; MW -1 (east), MW -2 (south) and MW -4
(west). The well MW -3 has been abandoned, and MW -4 has been added as a replacement. Attached
is the report showing the well measurements taken on April 1, 2013, and a figure showing the
location of the monitoring wells.
We would also like to note that we have, as of February 4, 2013, placed a pressure transducer in the
reservoir on the east side of the property. (An additional pressure transducer was placed in the
monitoring well (MW -4) on January 3, 2013.) These transducers will take readings once every hour,
and we will be able to access these readings when we visit the site periodically. We have had the
appropriate locations of the transducers surveyed for a correct elevation reading, and have compared
the elevation of the water table underneath MW -4 to the water surface elevation at the reservoir. A
plot of our hourly measurements is also included. You'll note on the plot that the water surface
elevation increases dramatically beginning on March 22, 2013. This increase was caused by a filling
of the reservoir at a constant rate from 2:00 pm on March 22n through 5:00 pm on March 25
If you have any questions please call me at your convenience.
Cordially,
Applegate Group, Inc.
Stephen Buechner
Water Resource Engineer
SB /ta
Enclosures
cc: Eugene Riordan, Esq.
Theran Olsen, Brannan Sand and Gravel
AG File No. 10 -116
N \10116 Brannan Pit 29\Disciplines (Technical) \WRPM \Water Rights\2013 Reports \TR report 3 13 docx
1490 W. 121 Avenue, Suite 100
Denver, CO 80234
303 - 452 -6611
www.applegategroup.com
RECEIVE
7 PR 04 2013
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
MI NINGAN®SAFET1.
118 W. 6 Street, Suite 100
Glenwood Springs, CO 81601
