This seed will be 99 percent pure live seed (PLS) and hand broadcast at a rate of 30 pounds per
acre.
5. After seeding, the cleared brush will be redistributed over the drill pad area to act as natural
mulch. This method has proven successful for the revegetation of previous drill sites.
6. Newly developed access roads will be regraded as closely as possible to the original contour
and re- seeded as above. Drill sites and access roads will be reclaimed as soon as possible
after the completion of the exploration project as noted in the narrative for the 2013 and 2014
Exploration Plans.
7. Culverts will be removed during the reclamation of the access routes unless accepted by the
USFS Road Engineer.
8. The drill pad and access roads reclamation procedure outlined above will apply only to those
areas newly disturbed for this proposed exploration. Existing roads will be left in a condition
equal to or better than that observed up ALC's entry into the area. Existing trails will be
scarified during reclamation activities to compensate for compaction and to promote seed
germination.
9. After reclamation, newly constructed access roads to certain drill sites may be blocked and
closed to vehicle entry at the USFS or surface owner request. Alternate road closure methods
may be employed where practical after review with the USFS representative.
3482.1(a)(3)(v) - Estimated Timetable for Construction, Drilling, and Reclamation Activities
The exploration activities described within this exploration plan are scheduled to be completed
within two years, 2013 and 2014. If necessary, additional site Location surveys for T & E and
cultural resources would be completed early in the 2013 or 2014 summer field seasons. ALC
requests approval of the Sunset Trail Exploration Plan by June, 2013 to allow sufficient time for
pre- drilling planning and contractor selections. Based upon this estimated timetable, the
exploration and reclamation activities would be complete by October 31'` of each year.
The access road upgrade and new construction should begin one to two weeks prior to moving
the drill rig onto the site. Reclamation activities will commence shortly after hole completion.
The construction, drilling and reclamation activities should take an average of 16 days per hole.
To avoid user conflict during the big game hunting season, drilling activities will be scheduled
accordingly.
3482.1(a)(3(vi) - Amount of Coal to be Removed
Coal to be removed during this exploration will be in the form of 3 inch diameter cores. An
estimated maximum of 470 lbs. of coal may be removed from each of the twelve sites and tested
for a wide range of quality parameters by a qualified laboratory. This is based upon a combined
30 feet of total coal core in each hole at a diameter of 3" having a weight of 86 -lbs /cubic ft. The
total maximum potential coal removed is substantially less than the 250 tons defined in the
regulations.
3482.1(a)(3)(vi) - Measures to be Used to Comply with Performance Standards for
Exploration (43 CFRII 3484.1(a), 30 CFR 815.15, and Colorado State
Permanent Program Rules):
All applicable parts of the Federal and State Performance Standards for Coal Exploration have
been covered in the preceding exploration and reclamation plans. Ark Land Company has
reviewed, and will comply with, all applicable requirements of 30 CFR 815.15 and the Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Regulations stated in C.R.S. 34 -33 -101.
12
