TRAPPER MINING INC.
March 27, 2013
Mr. Jared Ebert
Environmental Protection Specialist RECEIVED
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203 APR 012013
Dear Mr. Ebert: Division of Reclamation,
Mining &Safety
RE: Semi - annual Geotechnical Monitoring Report — March 2013
Trapper began submitting semi - annual monitoring reports to the Division, beginning March 2008 with the last
report sent on September 27, 2012. Trapper has been monitoring the 2006 landslide area for movement
through the use of a continuous monitoring system.
Section 3.3.3 of Trapper's permit details the initial configuration of the monitoring system. Currently, there are
two sites (site 7 and site 8) that are monitoring the area. A map has been attached showing the location of
these sites. Inclinometer, piezometer and surface displacement graphs for both sites covering the time period of
September 26, 2012 through March 27, 2013 are attached. During this period, site 7 has shown no significant
movement while site 8 has recorded movement.
Site 7 is no longer recording any inclinometer or piezometer data. Starting on December 29, 2012 the
information that was being sent to the office was being corrupted. This site is located in a remote area and due
to the winter weather conditions it was inaccessible. It was thought there might have been a short in the
system. Around February 7, 2013 snow had covered the solar panel and the battery was unable to charge up.
A blade operator went up to the site to clear off the snow. The snow drifts in the area were deep and the
operator accidently drove over the hole with the sensors and severed all the cables. The GPS data is currently
being recorded.
The data being recorded from the inclinometer and GPS station at site 8 does indicate some movement. There
are visible surface cracks in the area. This area is inspected on a regular basis and coned off. Trapper has
hired a consultant to analyze what is causing the cracking and movement in this area and to come up with
recommendations to prevent or minimize any possible slope failure. The piezometer located by the M seam no
longer works. The casing may have been damaged due to the movement.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
yy .
l7 ' v"., / e,
Tonia Perkins, P.
