Hickenlooper
Governor
Mike King
Executive Director
Loretta E. Pineda
Director
The Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety (Division) received the North Thompson
Creek Mine Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) for February 2013 on March 27, 2013.
The Division reviewed the DMR for Outfall 001A and has the following comments and
questions:
1. The discharge water maximum weekly average temperature (MWAT) was reported
as 2.2 °C. During the February 2013 inspection conducted by DRMS, no
temperature recording device was observed at the site. Please clarify how the
temperature was measured.
2. The discharge flow was reported as 34 million gallons per day (Mgal/d). During
the February 2013 inspection conducted by DRMS, no flow meter or recording
device was observed at the site. The reported flow seems excessively high. Please
clarify how the flow was measured.
Sincerely,
AW4—L
Brock F.
