This was a pre - operational inspection for the Dreher Pit, a proposed Yuma County 112c sand and gravel
operation, conducted by Eric Scott of DRMS. DRMS met Yuma County Road and Bridge representatives
Howard McGinnis, and Kent Twiss at the site, and observed the site with them at approximately 1030.
The permit area encompasses 67 acres and is located on the northeast corner of the intersection of Hwy 36 and
County Road K east of Joes CO. The notification of proposed mining site sign was observed at the existing site
entrance location, and the extent of the site boundary was clearly defined by painted T -post markers.
The site is relatively level and currently has good rangeland cover with vegetation typical of the area (see
attached photos). No man -made features were noted within the proposed permit limits. Yuma County is
proposing a 200' buffer zone around the perimeter of the site in order to maintain sufficient distance to prevent
possible impacts from mining activities. Some care may need to be given to prevent excessive runoff from
precipitation events from running into the pit.
The entire site is currently rangeland. Grazing may continue on areas of the site that are not being actively
mined. No other features or man-made structures of note were observed in the permit area during this
inspection. This permit application will be approved and mining may commence when the performance
warranty is executed and returned to the Division and the Permit is issued.
Inspection Contact Address
Howard McGinnis
Yuma County Road and Bridge
1310 South Blake Street
Wray, CO 80758
OBSERVATIONS
PERMIT #: M- 2012 -051
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE: March 13, 2013
