larger water -level decline in 2001 in well GP -8 and continued on a smaller decline rate in 2002
through 2005 with a water level rise in 2006 and steady levels in 2007 through 2010. A small overall
water level rise was observed in 2011 which was followed by a gradual decline in 2012. A
significant amount of well dewatering occurred from the G pit area in 2012.
Steady water levels had been observed in the previous four years in well GMP -1 while a
small increase was observed in 2005 through 2011. The previous ten years show a water level rise
due to the movement of Pit A to the east of this area. A very gradual decline was observed in 2012.
No dewatering was produced from the D pit in 2012 while some dewatering occurred from the Z and
G pits. The decrease in water levels in wells GD -2 and GD -3 in 2006 were caused by deep
exploration drilling in this area. Water levels in these two wells gradually rose in 2007 and overall
increased a larger amount in 2008. Water levels continued to gradually rise through 2012 in well
GD -2 but declined in well GD -3. The water levels in KLM well GP -2 overall increased from 2008
through 2011 but steadily declined in 2012. The previous decline could have been caused by the
decrease in recharge and mining in this area but the present decline are likely due to less recharge.
Water level in well GP -5 is useful in defining natural variations in the QR aquifer for 2012. Water
levels in well GP -5 show a rising trend from 1993 through 1998 with a smaller rising trend from
1998 to 2002. Water levels in this well then were fairly steady for five years with another overall rise
from 2007 through 2011. Water levels in GP -5 were steady in 2012 likely due to less recharge.
Water -level changes are discussed in more detail in the following section.
2.1.2 WATER-LEVEL CHANGES
Water -level changes for 2012 are presented in Figures A -1 through A -11 in Appendix A.
The table in Appendix A lists all historical data for the Trapper Mine. The wells are grouped on the
water -level plots according to aquifer where possible but, in most cases, are grouped by similar
Trapper Mining Company 2 -3
2012 Annual Report
