• Four wells at the potential AVF site in Pyeatt Gulch are monitored. These wells (P-1, P-3, P-5 and P-8) <br />are perforated in the Pyeatt alluvial, Lewis Shale, sandstone above G coal seam and sandstone below G <br />aquifers, respectively. Well J-1 was established (September, 1983) in the Johnson drainage alluvium <br />prior to Ashmore Pit entering that drainage. This well monitors for effects to ground water within the <br />potential alluvial/colluvial aquifer from surface runoff. Its location is shown on map M52. <br />Testing of the restored spoil aquifer is conducted at wells GD-3 (Derringer Pit), GF-5 (Ashmore Pit), and <br />GF-11 (Enfield Pit). Groundwater flow quantities, storage and quality will be determined from these <br />wells. <br />Wells GC2, Coy and GP1 through GP9 and GMP-1 were added to the list of groundwater monitoring <br />sites during permit term 1988-1992. GP-1 was disturbed by mining in the first quarter of 2003. GP-6 was <br />abandoned during 2007. Most quarterly sampling requirements for far eastern wells were dropped in <br />1990 as mining should not affect the groundwater systems on the eastern side. Additional parameter <br />sampling is conducted on a semi-annual and annual basis. <br />In 1988, Trapper began a yearly spring survey program. The survey covers those areas in and adjacent <br />to mined areas where springs could establish due to recharge through recontoured spoils. The program <br />inventories and samples those springs exhibiting a five gallons per minute or greater flow. If weather <br />allows, the survey will be completed by May 15th of each year. List A-3 of Table 4.8-12 shows the <br />parameters to be evaluated. Since 1989, the results of the inventory and samples obtained from spoil <br />related springs have been included in the annual hydrologic report (Appendix W). Permit revision 3 <br />(1993-1997) changed the sample parameter list from a ground water monitoring list to a surface <br />• parameter sampling list <br />In accordance with TR-44 "1988 Annual Report" approval, the following wells no longer require quarterly <br />TDS analysis but still require annual TDS analysis; GA1, GA-2, GB-5, GC-1, GD-1, GD-2, GE-1, GE-2, <br />GF-1, GF-2, GF-3, GF-4, GF-6, GP-1, GP-2, GP-3, GP4, GP-5, GP-6, GP-7 and GP-8. <br />In accordance with TR-48 "1989 Annual Report" approval, the following groundwater sampling changes <br />became effective: 1) Vanadium was dropped as a sample parameter in the B&D lists; 2) Total <br />concentrations for Arsenic, Barium, Cadmium, Chromium, Copper and Selenium were dropped from the <br />B and E parameter lists, and Barium and Chromium total concentrations were dropped from the D <br />parameter list, and replaced by dissolved sampling requirements; 3) Ash wells GD-2, GD-3, GF-6 and <br />GF-11 will be sampled by the B & C lists (C list replaced D list) until ash disposal occurs in areas <br />upgradient of these wells.
