It is probably subject to temperature increases, nutrient
loading, and siltation from the surrounding farms and ranches. No fish inventories
for Dry Creek have been undertaken. However, the aquatic habitat may be suitable for
chubs, Gila spp.; shiners, Notropis spp.; and suckers, Catostomus spp.; and, other
rough fish."
Benthic invertebrates and periphyton were sampled in May and November 1974 in association
with Seneca Coal Company's application for Permit No. C -82 -057 for the Seneca II -W Mine.
Site D -3 was located in Dry Creek approximately 5.0 miles upstream of the Loadout permit
area and at an elevation increase of only 160 feet. Because this is the only aquatic
habitat data available on Dry Creek, the sampling results from Site D -3 are considered
representative of the reach of Dry Creek that bisects the permit area and are summarized
herein.
