Greater sage - grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus)
• The Trapper Mine permit area does not encompass core habitat for this species. Trapper
does not provide suitable strutting, nesting, brooding or wintering habitat for this species.
Greater sage - grouse are occasionally observed within the reclaimed areas of the permit
area. Birds are most often observed following dispersal of brooding birds from other
areas during fall. Based on this information mining at the Trapper Mine may affect, is
not likely to adversely affect the continued existence of the Greater sage- grouse. OSM
understands that should the Greater sage - grouse be listed in the future, we may need to
reinitiate consultation with your office
Black- footed ferret (Mustela nigripes)
• since there have been not sightings of prairie dog populations near or on the Trapper
Mine mining area, mining activities will not affect the continued existence of the Black -
footed ferret
OSM requests your concurrence with this determination.
If you have any questions regarding this request, or the mining operations at the Trapper Mine,
please feel free to contact me at (303) 293 -5078.
Enclosures
cc: CO -DRMS, Jared Ebert
Sincerely,
.1(4
Nicole A.
