holes will be fitted with these devices. The thermocouple wire will be cut to
lengths specified by Project Manager, fitted with a small down -hole weight and a
male connector, and then suspended in the drill holes specified by the DRMS
project manager. DRMS will install the thermocouple devices.
1.5 GPS Location of Boreholes
All borehole locations will be logged using a handheld GPS unit. Coordinates
must be logged and reported to the DRMS Project Manager in NAD83, UTM
coordinates.
1.6 Borehole Abandonment
The boreholes that are not cased and equipped with a thermocouple will be
abandoned upon completion of stratigraphy logging. Abandonment shall consist
of backfilling the boring with cuttings to within 8 feet (8')of the surface.
Hydrated bentonite chips shall be placed between 8 feet (8') and 3 feet (3') of the
surface. Earthen materials will be used to fill the remaining three feet (3') of the
borehole.
Task 3- Surface Fire Prevention
Due to the current drought conditions, and the likelihood of the drilling encountering
burning coal, surface fire prevention measures must be implemented during drilling
activities. Surface fire prevention will include creating a 15'x15' drill pad at any drill
location that is surrounded by vegetation. The pads will be used to contain hot cuttings,
and must be cleared of vegetation. A 500 gallon water trick must be on -site during
drilling activities.
Project Deliverables
Shannon & Wilson's drilling subcontractor will provide the well casing for the 10 cased
boreholes, and a drill log with GPS coordinates for each borehole. Core will be logged,
boxed, and delivered to the DRMS project manager
Schedule
The initial site mobilization is scheduled for October 29, 2012. Drilling activities will
begin on October 30, 2012. Drilling will occur in 10 -day shifts with four -day breaks.
Tentatively, drilling will occur on the following schedule (as necessary until site work is
completed):
First 4,l6hilization: Monday, October 29 through Wednesday, November 7, 2012.
First Break: Thursday, November 8 through Sunday, November 11.
Second Mobilization: Monday, November 12 through Wednesday, November 21, 2012.
Second Break: Thursday, November 22 (Thanksgiving) through Sunday, November 25.
Third Mobilization: Monday, November 26 through Wednesday, December 5, 2012.
3
