Topsoil Salvage and Storage All suitable soil has been salvaged ahead of mining at New Horizon 2. The approximate volumes for all stored top soil are expressed in cubic yards. The soils were stockpiled separately by soil types and /or property ownership as specified by Permit C -81 -008. Cover Crop All topsoil stockpiles in the prime farmland area and several other topsoil stockpiles were broadcast seeded with the approved temporary seed mix #3. The pond banks of 009, 011, 012, 013, and 015 were broadcast seeded with mix #3 as was their associated ditches. These seeded areas are not noted on any Exhibits and are typically reseeded every year to aid in erosion control and to compete with invasive plant species in disturbed areas. • 12.43 acres winter wheat on the future irrigated pasture land north of BB road was applied at 70 lbs/ac (Benson). • 25.66 acres winter wheat on the future irrigation pasture land north of BB road was applied at 70 lbs/ac (WFC- Lloyd). A total of 38.1 acres were planted to seed mix #2 at 70 lbs/ac; winter wheat, a temporary cover crop, that did not include stockpiles, ponds and ditches. The 38.1 acres are not noted on any of the Exhibits due to their temporary nature. QuickGuard (sterile triticale) was planted along with seed mix #8 as per the approved permit at 10 lbs/ac, "QuickGuard sterile triticale seed rate will be the same whether broadcast or drill seeded ", 2.05.4(2)(e)- 56. New Field Seeding and Interseeding Approximately 6.0 acres of new dryland pasture were planted in the fall. This area is located in the north of the WFC -Lloyd property, near Pond 012. Approximately 5.6 acres of dryland pasture was reseeded due to poor seed germination likely due to the dry spring. This area is located just north of BB road, west of 27 road. This area was disturbed in a prior year's irrigation pipeline installation project. Both areas are noted in Exhibit 2012 -4. Interseeding was not performed during 2012.
