Our members and staff have an interest in the environmental health and <br />conditions of mined lands in Colorado and are directly and adversely affected by the SR -11 Mine <br />(the Ike No. 1), located in western San Miguel County. INFORM has longstanding concerns <br />about the idle state of the SR -11, the surface disturbances and the location of the mine in close <br />proximity to the Dolores River, among many other environmental issues related to the presence <br />of a uranium mine in sensitive areas. <br />The SR -11 has not produced ore since at least Nov. 30, 1984, when Cotter Corporation first <br />applied to succeed as operator of the mine Since that time, the SR -11 has not produced ore and <br />Cotter Corporation has not reported any ore production to the Division in its annual reports or <br />other documents. Prior to Cotter's acquisition of the mine in 1984, mining had already ceased at <br />the SR -11 and no further mining activity was planned, according to the 1983 annual report filed <br />by the previous operator, Anschutz Mining Corporation. <br />Cotter Corporation, after a lengthy exchange with the Division over the mine's non - operating <br />status and non - compliance with the Mined Land Reclamation Act, filed a Notice of Temporary <br />
