The second Cheyenne monitoring well
was selected, as it appeared to make twice as much water during well development as CMW -1
did. Hydrographs of the water level data are presented in Attachment C. The static water level
data is presented in Table 2.
Table 2
Summary of Static Water Level Data
Notes: * Water levels collected on Jan. 11, 2003
** Top of Casing (TOC)
The Cheyenne monitoring wells were artesian and flowing at approximately 3.5 gpm at CMW -1
and approximately 7 gpm at CMW -2. Therefore the static water was collected by shutting in the
wellheads and recording the pressure. The water level data and pumping test results indicate that
the Dakota and Cheyenne aquifers do not appear interconnected beneath the drill site.
Step pumping tests were conducted in DW -1 and CMW -2 to predict the maximum sustainable
yield for the 24 hour pumping test. Well DW -1 was pumped at 65, 95, 125 and 200 gpm. Well
CMW -2 was pumped at 40, 60 and 80 gpm.
A 24 -hour pumping test was conducted at DW -1 on December 21, 2002 at an average rate of 147
gpm. A 24 -hour pumping test was conducted at CMW -2 on January 9, 2003 at an average
pumping rate of 60 gpm. During the tests, the water levels in the adjacent wells were monitored
with data loggers and pressure transducers. The average aquifer characteristics are presented in
Table 3.
190066:2}
Table 3
Summary of Aquifer Characteristics
