Sample Site <br />Designation <br />Sample Site Location <br />Purpose <br />MW -001 <br />1,440 feet west, and 200 feet north of <br />the southeast corner of Section 13 <br />Township 22 South, Range 65 West. <br />Screened across the Codell <br />sandstone. <br />Recently installed monitoring well. This well <br />will be abandoned and MW -001A will be <br />monitored instead to observe the existence <br />of groundwater in the Codell sandstone. <br />MW -001A <br />1,000 feet west, and 1,550 feet north <br />of the southeast corner of Section 13 <br />Township 22 South, Range 65 West. <br />Screened across the Codell <br />sandstone. <br />Proposed monitoring well that will be <br />installed to replace MW -001, as MW -001 <br />may be disturbed during mining. If ground <br />water is observed, the site will be sampled to <br />establish baseline groundwater conditions <br />within the Codell sandstone aquifer. <br />MW -002 <br />2,600 feet west and 3,000 feet north <br />of the southeast comer of Section 12, <br />Township 22 South, Range 65 West. <br />Screened across the St. Charles River <br />alluvial aquifer. <br />Proposed background /ambient well. The <br />site will be sampled to establish baseline <br />groundwater conditions within the St. <br />Charles River alluvial aquifer at the upstream <br />property boundary. <br />MW -003 <br />1,800 feet west and 1,800 feet south <br />of the northeast corner of Section <br />12, Township 22 South, Range 65 <br />West. Screened across the St. <br />Charles River alluvial aquifer. <br />Proposed monitoring well located <br />downstream of the proposed mine <br />stormwater discharge to the St. Charles <br />River. The site will provide background <br />measurements for future comparison to <br />levels found at this site in the St. Charles <br />River alluvial aquifer during mining. <br />MW -004 <br />1,200 feet west and 400 feet south <br />of the northeast corner of Section <br />12, Township 22 South, Range 65 <br />West. Screened across the St. <br />Charles River alluvial aquifer. <br />Proposed compliance well located <br />downstream of the monitoring well (MW- <br />003). Activities between MW -003 and MW- <br />004 will be under GCC Rio Grande Inc.'s <br />control. The anticipated sampling dates are listed below in Table 3 -3. Unexpected circumstances or <br />adverse weather /site conditions may require that a sampling date be rescheduled. The Sampling <br />Plan will be updated with changes and DMG will be informed of the change in sampling schedule. <br />Table 3 -2.
