Re: Southfield Mine, C1981 -014, Fourth Quarter 2012 Sediment Pond Report Review
Dear Mr. Patterson:
On December 31, 2012 the Division received Fourth Quarter 2012 Sediment Pond Inspection reports for
the Southfield Mine. Four ponds; loadout pond #1, loadout pond 42, pond 44, and pond 45, are permitted
under the Southfield permit. The ponds were inspected on December 18, 2012. Energy Fuels Coal, Inc.
provided additional observations or notes at the bottom of the report forms.
Energy Fuels Coal, Inc. provided additional information regarding repair to the gated valve on pond 1L at
the load out. Energy Fuels anticipated that the repair would be completed by January 10, 2013. Energy
Fuels Fourth Quarter Pond report documented that debris had been cleaned from the inlet and outlet of
Pond 1L principal spillway.
These reports are in compliance with Rule 4.05.9(15) and Rule 4.05.9(17). The Division will confirm the
maintenance and repairs during an on -site inspection. Thank you for the timely submittal of the quarterly
pond inspection reports.
