Stark - DNR, Jim <jim.stark @state.co.us> Tue, Feb 5, 2013 at 12:08 PM
To: "Welt, Kathy" <KWelt @archcoal.com>
Cc: Alysha Hernandez - DNR <alysha.hernandez @ state.co.us>, Mary Rodriguez - DNR
<mary.rodriguez @state.co.us>
Kathy,
The Division has received the West Elk Mine's Discharge Monitoring Reports for the 4Q12. The reports were
dated 15 January 2013 and received by the Division on 28 January 2013. Thank you for your timely submittal of
these reports. Only one pond discharged during the reporting period, the waste water treatment pond. There
were no exceedences reported for the pond. Although this is the first reporting quarter since the buried, enclosed
waste water pond has been used, based on the total suspended solids concentration for the pond effluent, 6
mg /I, it appears as though the buried, enclosed pond is working to control "contamination" from the coal dust.
The Division does not have any questions regarding the 4Q12 DMR's. Please let me know if you have any
questions or comments. Thanks.
+.
https: / /mai l.g oog le.conVmai 1 /u /0 / ?ui =2 &i Ire29129fcb5 &\iev-- pt &search =i nboy&th= 13cabc2l a785174c 1 /1
