Since the previously
established decision date for the revision of November 1, 1995 is upon us,
and as we discussed on the telephone last week, you will want to specify
a decision date extension to allow preparation of your responses to the
Division's adequacy review. Please provide me with a written proposal for
decision date re-establishment that will allow you to finalize your
responses.
Site HydroQeology
The statement is made in the technical revision application that ground
water occurrence within the bedrock is limited to the upper fractured
portion of the bedrock units. It is further stated that a hydrogeologic
study of the underground workings (Titan, 1994) indicated that the bulk
permeability of the bedrock is relatively low and the bedrock is not
capable of transporting significant quantities of ground water. As will
be further developed below, the Division is interested in a quantitative
demonstration of the details that led to these conclusions.
It is stated in the Technical revision application that the site Storm
Water Management Plan details potential discharges from mines, seeps, and
springs in the area. Please note that Rule 6.4. 19 (10) (b) of the Mineral
Rules and Regulations requires that a copy of the site Storm Water
Management Plan be submitted to the Division. Rule 6.4 . 19 is the
Environmental Protection Plan section of the Rules, and the Climax Mine
Environmental Protection Plan application is currently being reviewed by
the Division, however, the Division will request that the Storm Water
