MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M- 1977 -493 PAGE: 12
INSPECTION DATE: 9 -26 -00 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ACS
because the actual affected land boundaries for the Mayflower borrow source must be
incorporated into the reclamation permit, the borrow area is excluded from the SR -03
approval.
Reclamation of the disturbed area designated as C -19 in the 1989 amendment AM -02 was
inspected. This area is located to the west of Clinton Reservoir and was originally
a borrow pit used during the construction of the reservoir. The overall slope angles
measured on the sides of C -19 are approximately 2.75:1. A large stockpile had
remained in area C -19 for years following construction of Clinton Reservoir. Most
of this stockpiled material was used during the 3 -Dam capping project in 1997, but
a remnant of the stockpile was observed in C -19. The C -19 borrow area and stockpile
and staging location was seeded following the 3 -Dam capping project. The method
employed was direct seeding of the rocky subsoil exposed in the pit with no
application of plant growth media. Based on the observations made during this
inspection, it could not be concluded that additional cover soil might not be
necessary to achieve revegetation performance standards. Based on this observation
and the presence of the remnant stockpile, area C -19 is excluded from the SR -03
approval.
The Precon Building site and the No. 3 Thickener location are included in the SR -03
application. These reclamation project areas were not inspected on this date, but
were inspected on October 24, 2000. The observations made at these locations and a
summary of the bond reduction to be made through approval of SR -03 will be included
in the 10 -24 -00 inspection report.
I & E Contact Address
NAME Bryce Romig
OPERATOR Climax Molybdenum Company
STREET Climax Mine
CITY /STATE /ZIP Climax, CO 80429
cc: Carl Mount, DMG
