The East Rigden Pit's Pre -81 exposure locations have previously been
set and are not allowed to be relocated to other areas of ground water exposure within the gravel pit
boundary.
The Weitzel Pit (DRMS No. M- 1986 -050, Pit WDID 0303024) and the Port of Entry Pit (DRMS
No. M- 1982 -182, WDID 0303026) were previously included in Lafarge's Middle Poudre Combined
SWSP. Starting January 1, 2012 these two pits were removed from this SWSP and are covered under
individual SWSPs for the specific sites. The Weitzel Pit is covered under its own SWSP (WDID
0302555) but Lafarge has agreed to cover a portion of Weitzel depletions through April 30, 2013.
Lafarge will be covering the Port of Entry (POE) Pit under a SWSP filed under § 37 -92- 308(5) per
requirements set forth in a motion to dismiss case no. 2004CW111. Replacement from both sites
continues to come from credits generated through this SWSP. To account for this, the credits dedicated
to the Weitzel and Port of Entry Pits are listed as depletions against this plan. See the respective
SWSPs for the details of their operation.
East Rigden Pit is undergoing a Succession of Operators from Lafarge to Flatirons Companies
which will transition operator responsibility including reclamation and long -term augmentation
responsibilities to Flatiron Companies. Lafarge anticipates the process will be complete by March 31,
2013 and as such has committed to provide augmentation for the site through March 31, 2013. Starting
in April 2013 the site will no longer be covered under this SWSP and a new SWSP must be sought by
Flatiron Companies unless this SWSP is amended by Lafarge to include the site for the rest of the
SWSP duration.
Depletions
The total losses for the sites are summarized in the following table:
TABLE B - DEPLETIONS
* Lagged Dewatering Depletions, as shown in the table, are from past dewatering operations that have ceased.
All other current dewatering operations were considered to have reached a steady state condition
The exposed surface area at all the sites has been updated based on the current conditions for
each site using a 2011 aerial photo.
