Application from Anglo Gold Ashanti mining Page 3 of 3
We have spectacular Golden Aspens and give free Aspen Tours each
September. What can you do besides modify their application?
You can contact our Teller Country commissioners
that have the power to allow mining everywhere or hopefully
everywhere but not the removal of our beautiful hillside to the
east of Cripple Creek. If allowed to mine North, East and
South, Anglo Gold Ashanti should be able over the next ten years
to send hundreds of millions of dollars in profit to South
Africa. Even the greediest should be satisfied with this
amount. In 2007, $40 million were sent overseas. In 2008, it
is anticipated that $100 million will be sent — and this is
without extended operations! It's disappointing to know that
our Colorado resources are being used to finance South Africa.
Please listen to the voice of the many who feel our town
shouldn't be subjected to noise, dust, night time lights,
increased trucks scattering our tourists and piles of rock
replacing a wonderful view. I have been "drafted" to represent
our community. Please advise me of when the public hearing in
Denver will be. We are planning to bring several bus loads of
residents to express their concerns. Is there any limitations
on how many can attend and speak?
Contact our commissioners:
Call, Fax, Write or e-mail
James Ignatius E -Mail: ignatiusj @co.teller.co.us
Robert Campbell E -Mail: campbellr@co.teller.co.us
Bill 'Buck' Buckhanan E -Mail: buck @co.teller.co.us
PO Box 959 112 North "A" Street Cripple Creek, CO 80813
(719)689 -2988 Fax(719)686 -7900
Let them know how the DMRG feels.
Thank you,
Carl Poch
Carl Poch
611 E.
