Photos were taken by Harry Ranney and subsequently analyzed by Marcia Talvitie.
Skies appear to have been clear. The temperature was cold, as evidenced by the lack of melting
of the snow that blanketed the area.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures
4.05.7, 4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Drainage—Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments
4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
• Construction of Sediment Pond NHN-001 has been completed, together with the contributing
collection ditches.
GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLANCE:
• The current disturbed area is limited to that required to expose the former Nucla Mine
highwall.
• The only operations that have been undertaken, to date, are construction of sediment control
and salvage of topsoil. (The CCC Ditch relocation occurred under Permit C-1981-008.)
• Equipment at the site consisted of three scrapers, two water trucks, a bulldozer, excavator
and front-end loader. It appeared that all of the equipment was parked and that no operations
were under way at the time of the inspection.
TOPSOIL—Rule 4.06
Removal 4.06.2; Substitute Materials 4.06.4(4); Storage and Protection 4.06.3; Redistribution
4.06.4:
• Topsoil salvage and stockpiling operations have progressed since the December inspection.
With the snow covering the ground, it is not possible to distinguish those areas from which
salvage is not yet complete.
• Two separate topsoil stockpiles have been constructed along the eastern boundary of the
disturbed area.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 7
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2 Page 2 of 6
