ameO
6.0 GEOSYNTHETIC CQA TESTING AND MONITORING
The following sections describe the CQA activities performed by AMEC for the geomembrane
installed in the re- certified areas.
In accordance with the AMEC CQA Plan, when an AMEC monitor observed deficiencies, the
monitor determined the nature and extent of the problem and notified Lonestar and /or CC &V.
When unsatisfactory test results identified a deficiency, AMEC performed additional tests to
define the extent of the deficient area. Lonestar corrected deficiencies to meet the requirements
of the specifications, and AMEC retested and /or approved the corrected deficiency prior to any
additional related work. The following sections include discussions of the deficiencies
encountered.
6.1 Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL)
CQA activities conducted by AMEC during the installation of the Bentomat ST GCL consisted of
the following:
■ Observation and approval of the BF surface prior to deployment of GCL;
■ Observation and documentation of GCLdeployment, including verifying damage did not
occur, sufficient overlap was achieved, and documenting panel layout;
■ Observation and documentation of field seaming;
■ Observation and documentation of GCLrepairs; and,
■ Observation and documentation of installation in accordance with manufacture's
recommendations.
6.2 Geomembrane
CQA activities conducted by AMEC during the installation of the LLDPE geomembrane
consisted of the following:
■ Conformance sampling and testing of the geomembrane;
■ Observation and approval of the GCL surface prior to deployment of geomembrane;
• Observation and documentation of geomembrane deployment, including verifying sheet
thickness and overlap and documenting panel layout;
■ Observation of trial seam sample testing and documentation of results;
15
