Lagged Depletions from Evaporative Depletions. The timing of stream
depletions to Running Creek due to the monthly gross evaporative loss
from the Freund Pit was estimated using the Glover methodology. Unit
response depletion factors were estimated based on geologic well log
information from a nearby well. Using an alluvial transmissivity of 3,000
gallons per day per foot and a specific yield of 0.10, and a distance from
the centroid of the Freund Pit to Running Creek of 390 feet, the
evaporative depletions from the current size of the pit are estimated to take
three months. If the pit is expanded to its potential permitted size of 27
acres, the distance between the centroid of the Freund Pit and Running
Creek extends to 690 feet and the lagged evaporative depletions are
estimated to take five months. The following table provides a monthly
summary of the steady -state equilibrium timing of the post -1980
evaporative depletions to Running Creek for both the current and
allowable expanded future pit sizes.
Month
Current Pit Size 10 acres
Expand d Pit Size 27 acres
ac -ft/ac
ac -ft
ac -ft/ac
ac -ft
November
0.22
0.66
0.33
6.60
December
0.14
0.42
0.23
4.60
January
0.11
0.33
0.16
3.20
February
0.12
0.36
0.13
2.60
March
0.17
0.51
0.13
2.60
April
0.27
0.81
0.19
3.80
May
0.38
1.14
0.28
5.60
June
0.49
1.47
0.38
7.60
July
0.55
1.65
0.47
9.40
August
0.54
1.62
0.52
10.40
Se tember
0.45
1.35
0.51
10.20
October
0.33
0.99
0.44
8.80
Total
3.77
11.31
3.77
75.40
Augmentation releases will be based on the lagged evaporative depletions
in acre -feet as set forth in the table above. If the pit expands in the future,
lagged depletions and augmentation requirements will be calculated by
proportionately interpolating between the evaporative depletions for the
current pit size and the expanded pit size.
(iv) Water Consumption Associated with Mining Operations. Mining
operations at the Freund Pit are currently idle. Accordingly, it is not
necessary at this time to make augmentation releases in order to account
for water removed with the gravel materials or to replace ground water
Freund Investments, LLC
Case No. 11 CW107, Water Division 1
