The spill <br />occurred at approximately 1:00 PM on Thursday January 3, 2013. <br />Notice Requirements (3.1.13(2)): <br />(a) Climax Molybdenum, M- 1977 -342, Bryce Romig <br />(b) (303) 569 -3221 Ext. 1204 <br />(c) 1:00 PM, January 3, 2013 <br />(d) Mine Water <br />(e) An estimated 750 to 1,000 gallons of mine water was released due to a break in PVC <br />connection between the non - operational cooling fan condensate line and the <br />dewatering line from the Henderson Mine to the Urad Treatment Facility, no released <br />water left the permit area (or affected area), the released water flowed into a storm <br />water ditch and froze before it reached the stormwater outfall. <br />(f) Dewater pumps were turned off after approximately 15 minutes and the mine <br />dewatering was diverted into the second Urad dewatering line. <br />Additional information: the area of the leak the excavated to determine the cause of the leak, the <br />PVC lines from the fan condensate to the mine dewatering lines were removed and the area was <br />temporarily backfilled to prevent additional pipe freezing. The frozen released water will be <br />chipped out, removed and temporarily stored in Pond 1.2.
