Enclosed is the 1994-1995 112 Annual Reclamation Report for the
Climax Mine and a check in the amount of $550. 00 for permit fees.
I have also attached three maps with narrative information on
three locations where our activities in 1994 related to land
rehabilitation and land reclamation.
The year 1994 saw a significant swing in the value and marketing
potential of the molybdenum reserves at Climax. Climax will
resume operations in the open pit in 1995. Climax will operate
on a two year plan with contingencies for longer term production
based on market conditions.
Due to the Demand Side Management (DSM) program instituted for
energy savings by the Public Service Company, Climax reviewed
water routing, pump relocation, and lime treatment efficiency.
Among other projects conducted under DSM, the pumping facilities
on the 600 level of the underground workings were removed thereby
inundating the level. This activity was inspected and cleared by
the DMG on an October 17 inspection. Included in this report is
a summary of pollution prevention measures for the handling of
water as it rises in 5-Shaft. This includes monitoring of an
established well and in an area below the shaft for seeps. Pump
station establishment will be discussed in the Climax
Environmental Protection Plan.
Reclamation at Climax in 1994 centered on three primary
locations. Building demolition and site cleanup of the
underground support facilities in the Storke Yard is nearly
complete. Robinson Tailing Pond was capped with material from
the East Ore Stockpile for both dust control and revegetation.
At Eagle Park Reservoir, Climax began tailing removal as
specified in TR-005. Reclamation activities in 1995 will extend
