The attached worksheet and reference material
summarizes the reclamation activity and monitoring summaries at the Climax Mine in 1997. A
copy of our 1997 Biosolids report is also attached.
Reclamation at Climax centered on the regrading and capping of 3-Dam, the Highway 91 View
Corridor, the Storke Underground Facilities Complex, and Eagle Park Reservoir revegetation
work and tailing haul road. Topsoil spreading occurred along Highway 91 and additional topsoil
was stockpiled at the crest of 1-Dam. A primary focus of 1997 activities was the capping of 3-
Dam. This project eliminates dust generation on 3-Dam and provides visual enhancement on the
site.
The financial warranty for the Climax Mine was adjusted this year through Amendment AM-003.
Amendment AM-003 to the Climax Reclamation Permit, submitted on February 13, 1997,
recalculated the financial warranty associated with the inclusion of new affected lands. Pursuant
to Rule 1.15(1), the amount of bond stands at$22,049,073.
Please contact me at(719)486-2150 ext. 724 if there are questions concerning this report.
Sincerely,
Erich J.
