Re: Annual Report, Climax Mining Permit #77-493 Dear Mr . Sullivan: The previous annual report was submitted to you on October 26, 1981 , approximately one year following Board approval on November 19 , 1980 , of an amendment to our original permit. It has since been determined that March 4 is the appropriate anniversary date . Consequently, this report is simply an update of the October report and contains little new reclamation information because no additional revegetation work has been carried out since October . The Climax Mine presently employs about 1,900 people and produces around 32, 000 tons of ore per day from the open pit and underground mine . At this point in time, approximately 7 , 600 acres of land are affected directly by the mining operation, under the process of reclamation, or considered as buffer to the operation. The Mining Plan and schedule of affecting lands remain basically as described in the original Permit and subsequent Amendment. Waste rock dumping in McNulty Gulch is occurring as well as low grade ore stockpiling in the Low Grade Ore Stockpile . Tailing deposition continues on Mayflower , Tenmile and Robinson Tailing Ponds. No. 6 Crusher commenced operation last November . Lands anticipated to be affected during the next year ' s activities are essentially as described in the Mining Plan. Revegetation activities will proceed and occur in accordance with the plans and timetables of the Mining Permit. Seeding and planting performances have not been observed since last October due to snow cover , so they remain evaluated as described in the 1981 Annual Report. 1707 Cole Boulevard 9 Golden.
