Dept. of Natural Resource
Denver, Colorado 80203
Re : Annual Report - Climax Mine Permit 77-493
Dear Mr. Holder:
During 1984 , mining operations at the Climax Mine expanded to
about one-half the capacity of the mine. The total work force at
the end of the year was 804 people . The only significant increase
in affected lands relates to tailing depositon.
Some of the surface construction activities which might be of
interest were:
1) Replacement pump pipe and one of three pumps at the
Robinson Lake Station;
2) Construction of a new acid storage facility;
3) Construction of a new acetylene generator facility;
4) Replacement of the barrel-packing facility with a bag-
packing facility; and
5 ) Construction of a short (total area 1. 1 acres) access
road around the east end of Mayflower Tailing Dam
because the old road will soon be inundated with
tailing.
Construction of the lower levels project and the dams in both
the Arkansas and Tenmile drainages continue to be on hold .
Reclamation activities were limited to monitoring of revegatated
areas , maintenance fertilization, and reseeding. Previously
revegetated areas continue to do well.
1707 Cole Boulevard•Golden, Colorado 80401 •3031234-9020•TWX:910.937.0746
