Inc. is requesting approval to re -enter the Red Point Oil Shale Mine (formally <br />Chevron Semi -Works Mine) for the purpose of stabilizing the exterior face, entry portal and <br />interior surfaces in anticipation of future research opportunities. The Red Point Mine provides a <br />unique opportunity to obtain valuable rock mechanic and fracture data for use in developing <br />working models and refining processes for practical application on the Chevron Oil Shale <br />Research, Development and Demonstration (RDD) lease in Rio Blanco County. <br />This proposal would entail exterior and interior mine stabilization work in preparation for future <br />process testing to be conducted in the Spring/Summer of 2012. The process test work would be <br />submitted as a modification to this application as details and plans are finalized for those <br />activities. <br />The Red Point Mine was previously permitted with the Division of Reclamation, Mining and <br />Safety in 1981 under the NOI number P -1981 -131. The permit was released on June 6, 2005. <br />The following documents are enclosed for your review: Summary narrative of the proposed <br />project with applicable supporting documents; Two hard copies and one electronic copy of the <br />DRMS Forms 2 (Public File) NOI application; Vicinity map; Site plan showing surface and <br />underground mine details; Corporate Surety for surface reclamation; and Application Fee. <br />Thank you for your consideration.
