Box 219 Director <br />Nucla, CO 81424 <br />Re: New Horizon Mine (Permit No. C- 1981 -008) <br />Permit Revision Application No. 7 (PR -7) <br />Revised Prime Farmland Determination and Related Soil Redistribution and Revegetation Plans <br />Dear Sir or Madam: <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, <br />Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on January 3, 2013, an application to revise coal <br />mining operations at the New Horizon Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and <br />comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />With this application, the operator proposes to revise the acreage of prime farmlands identified within the permit area. <br />This modification is based on a re- evaluation of available soil survey information and on new soils data gathered in <br />2011. The application materials include updated maps and sections of the permit which address baseline soils and <br />vegetation; prime farmland investigation; and reclamation of both prime and non -prime farmlands. <br />The Surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 1.7 miles Northwest of Nucla, Colorado. The <br />permit area is further described as follows: <br />Sections 25 and 36, Township 47 North, Range 16 West, Section 31, Township 47 North, Range 15 West: Section 6, <br />Township 46 North, Range 15 West; and Section 1, Township 46 North, Range 16 West. <br />The above - mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Nucla. <br />A copy of the revision application is available for public inspection at the Montrose County Courthouse, 300 Main <br />Street, Nucla, CO 81424, and at the Division office.
