All three are fence
corners that have pulled out of the ground at some time in the past fifteen or more years. All three were
constructed of steel angle set in concrete about 2.5 ft. in the ground with steel angle braces also set in
concrete. One is at the NW corner of Section 31, T20S R69W; another is at the E1/4 corner of Section 24, T20S
R70W, and the last is at a fence corner in the NE1 /4 Section 24, T20S R70W with the Southfield coordinates of
13400 ft. N and 9320 ft. E. All three are above pillared areas of the Southfield Mine. As with our water well
and cement block barn. we do not have pre- mining elevations of these fence corners. However, this fence
damage happened after the mining, and our observations of our fences show that in areas of known subsidence
additional tensioning of the barbed wire occurs when a section of the fence subsides even just a few feet.
The main purpose of writing about the fence damage is in response to the Minor Revision 59 application. If the
last subsidence survey is done in the penultimate year of the permit period,
there will only be one measurement of the locations and elevations of our water well and barn, assuming that
Energy will be directed to include these significant structures in the subsidence monitoring plan. An immediate
survey now and then again in the penultimate year would yield the only chance to monitor these two structures
with a minimum of two surveys since all prior opportunities to monitor them has been lost forever. Also, it is
unknown at least to me when the final year might be.
WD Corley, Jr.
