am&9 <br />3. A copy of GCL MANUFACTURER's ISO quality Certificate of Registration. <br />4. GCL MANUFACTURER's historical data for reinforced GCL including: <br />a. 10,000 -hour creep shear testing per Article 2.01. <br />b. Seam flow data at two (2) pounds per square inch (psi) confining pressure per <br />Article 2.01. <br />B. At the CERTIFYING ENGINEER'S or OWNER's request the CONTRACTOR shall furnish: <br />1. Representative samples of the GCLs specified. <br />2. A project reference list for the GCL(s) consisting of the principal details of at least ten <br />(10) projects totaling at least ten million (10,000,000) square feet in size. <br />C. Upon shipment, the CONTRACTOR shall furnish the GCL MANUFACTURER's Quality <br />Assurance /Quality Control (QA/QC) certifications to verify that the materials supplied for the <br />project are in accordance with the requirements of this SPECIFICATION. <br />D. As installation proceeds, the CONTRACTOR shall submit certificates of subgrade acceptance, <br />signed by the CONTRACTOR and CQA Monitor (see Articles 1.06 and 3.03) for each area that <br />is covered by the GCL. <br />1.05 QUALIFICATIONS <br />A. GCL MANUFACTURER must have produced at least ten million (10,000,000) square feet of GCL, <br />with at least eight million (8,000,000) square feet installed. <br />B. The GCL INSTALLER must either have installed at least one million (1,000,000) square feet of <br />GCL, or must provide to the OWNER satisfactory evidence, through similar experience in the <br />installation of other types of geosynthetics, that the GCL will be installed in a competent, <br />professional manner. <br />1.06 CONSTRUCTION QUALITY ASSURANCE (CQA) <br />A. The OWNER shall provide a third -party inspector for CQA of the GCL installation, in general <br />accordance with the requirements of Section 1400.2 of these SPECIFICATIONS. <br />PART 2: PRODUCTS <br />2.01 MATERIALS <br />A. The GCLs shall consist of a layer of natural sodium bentonite clay encapsulated between two <br />geotextiles and shall comply with all of the criteria listed in this Section. <br />B. Prior to using an alternate GCL, the CONTRACTOR must furnish independent test results <br />demonstrating that the proposed alternate material meets all requirements of this SPECIFICATION. <br />The CONTRACTOR also must obtain prior approval of the GCL by the OWNER and the <br />CERTIFYING ENGINEER. <br />Section 02776.1 Page 2 of 7 <br />Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL) <br />June 19, 2012 <br />Revision 1 <br />
