BUCKLEN EQUIPMENT CO
BUCKLEN EQUIPMENT CO PIT - ID# M- 1982 -131 I Technical Revision
The saleable material will be excavated using 3H:1V slopcG 1H:1V slopes. No backfilling of
slepeswill_occur. Slopes will be backfilled using unsaleable material from within the mine
limits which includes salvaged overburden and underlying clays. All slopes will be ripped
prior to topsoiling.
All grading will be done to minimize erosion and siltation. Best management practices will be
used on stockpiles. All erosion that will occur would be confined to the property and not impact
adjacent property owners. Backfilling of shoreline slopes will be done in controlled lifts
using standard practices accepted for the construction of embankments that are subject
to water storage. The Bucklen Equipment Company will retain a geotechnical testing firm
to confirm that the backfill replaced on the pit slopes is adequately compacted. Backfill
will be tested every 3,000cy for the first 100,000cy. If all tests are passing in the first
100,000cy, then the backfill will be tested every 5,000cy. The material already placed at the
time of this Technical Revision will be potholed at varying locations and elevations to
verify adequate compaction.
All grading and topsoiling of pond shores will be done as soon as practicable by the Operator.
The proposed timetables will be followed as long as mining keeps up with market conditions. The
operator will reclaim based on keeping the Table of Disturbance within the limits set in the Mining
Plan.
There is no acid forming material associated with the mining operation and any refuse will be
disposed of in an appropriate manner.
There are no drill holes or auger holes associated with the project.
The maximum slope in the lake will be a 3H:1V.
WATER
The disturbances to the hydrologic balance will be minimized by the operator. The amended land
will be mined in the same manner as the existing mine site. The operator commits to:
1. Comply with all applicable Colorado Water Laws and regulations governing the injury of water
rights.
2. Comply with applicable Federal and State water quality regulations.
3. Comply with any requirements of the Clean Water Act and any requirements that may be
imposed by the Section 404 Dredge and Fill permits.
Applegate Group, int.
