Response to DRMS Adequacy Review — Cotter SR -13A Mine Reclamation Plan Amendment
4. Addressing Rule 6.3.3 (1) (7 — On page C -S under item b., the exhibit states that ore will be
piled up to a workable stockpile. Please provide the Division with a maximum anticipated
amount of ore to be stockpiled at any given time.
No more than 1,700 tons of ore will be stockpiled at any given time.
5. Addressing Rule 6.3.3 (1) (l) — Please address the drainage adjacent to the south side of the
permit area that is shown on maps that were included in this application.
Please see # 2.
6. Addressing Rule 6.3.5 (2) (b) — On the Mining Plan Map, label the owner(s) of the surface of
the affected area, all owners of land within 200 feet of the affected area, and identify the
owner of the substance(s) to be mined
The Mining Plan Map has been corrected to include the owner(s) of the surface of
the affected area, all owners of land within 200 feet of the affected area and the
owner of the substance(s) to be mined. This map can be found in Attachment 1.
7. Addressing Rule 6.3.5 (3)(e) — There is a topsoil stockpile shown on the reclamation plan
maps. If this material is intended to be fully utilized during reclamation, please remove this
feature from the map(s).
The topsoil stockpile has been removed from all Reclamation Plan Maps. The
revised maps can be found in Attachment 2.
8. Addressing Rule 6.4.21 (6) (b) (iii) — Please describe how Cotter Corporation will prevent off -
site impacts during periods of Temporary Cessation.
The site will be inspected one to two times per week during periods of temporary
cessation. If any adverse off -site impacts are noted, Cotter will take appropriate
steps to correct the problems.
The current waste rock pile has a 4H:1V slope and vegetation is well established. As
discussed in sections 8.3.1 and 14.1 of Exhibit T — Environmental Protection Plan, it
is unlikely that even under the most extreme circumstances, any ground or surface
water would be affected by the current waste rock pile.
Once active mining resumes at the SR -13A mine, the recommended stormwater
structures will be constructed and left in place after final reclamation. The goals of
these structures will be to divert any offsite stormwater from coming into contact
with the waste rock and to retain any stormwater runoff from the waste rock pile
itself. In addition, the site will be kept free of debris.
2
