December 19, 2012
Dear Mr. Bowles:
J. E. STOVER & ASSOCIATES, INC.
Brock Bowles
Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
2352 NORTH 7th STREET, UNIT B
GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO 81501
PHONE: (970) 245 -4101, FAX 242 -7908
MINE ENGINEERING CIVIL ENGINEERING
MINE RECLAMATION CONST. MANAGEMENT
Re: Minrec Inc., North Thompson Creek Mines
Technical Revision Application
Clarify Pond 9 Operations
Permit No. C -1981 -025
Ow\SM n g & Safe
On behalf of Minrec, Inc., enclosed is an application for a technical revision to clarify the
way Pond 9 can be used for the water treatment system. Water can be diverted to Pond 9
through the open channel located between treatment pond T -2 and Pond 9. The Operator
would like approval to occasionally block the primary spillway on Pond 9. The pond will fill
with water and the water will backup into the ditch that enters Pond 9 from the east. Water
will exit the ditch where shown on Drawing D -2 -5. This overflow water will irrigate a small
area on the site and eventually flow to the refuse pond.
The developed water resources area encompasses 4.1 acres. This revision adds an
insignificant 0.01 acres to the size of the developed water resources area.
Drawings D -2 -5 and D -3 -2 and amended pages 4i through 4ix are enclosed.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
J. E. S over, P.E.
Consulting Engineer
