OSM has determined that the Bowie No. 2 Mine informal section 7 consultation request
(November 30, 2011) by BLM, as part of their Programmatic Biological Assessment meets
GSM's own section 7 consultation requirements, which insures that our agency action is not
likely to jeopardize the continued existence of a listed species or result in the destruction or
adverse modification of designated critical habitat. However, it would be prudent for a new
section 7 consultation to be prepared by OSM if any other project elements change that alters the
proposed operation of the project from that which is described in the BLM EA (August 2012)
and/or the section 7 consultation (November 30, 2011), which may affect any endangered,
threatened, species of concern, and/or critical habitat in a manner or to an extent not considered
in the BLM PBO.
OSM asks that all the conservation measures stated within this letter (including Appendix A) be
incorporated as conditions of the permit approval for the Bowie No. 2 Mine.
If you have any questions regarding this section 7 consultation, please contact me at (303) 293-
5044.
cc: OSM -PSD, Foster Kirby
Sincerely,
a- JfwPQ
Dawn S.
