New Bo nevard . This area contains approximately 1.9 acres of
• disturbed land. As stated above, it was constructed in the early
1980's. The drainage from the watershed above the boneyard is
conveyed around the boneyard via ditches. The only runoff from
the disturbed area is that which falls on the boneyard.
Eli
Office Area The office area contains approximately one acre of
drainage area; of that, 0.61 acres is heavily vegetated grass
(lawn) area. The gravel parking area constitutes the only
sediment contributor for this area.
•
•
Design Analysis
General In order to demonstrate that these above facilities
meet the intention of Division of Minerals and Geology
Regulations, Section 4.05.2(3) without constructing sedimentation
ponds, the following was taken into consideration.
1. Runoff from these areas was small compared to areas
that drain to sedimentation ponds.
2. Comparing the model with on- the - ground sediment after a
rain storm, it appears that the model over estimates
the amount of sediment running off these areas.
3. Insufficient data exists to predict the exact amount of
sediment that will be filtered by a silt fence.
4. Runoff from this area joins haulroad and pre -law area
runoff which is potentially a higher contributor of
sediment of these small areas.
Hydrology The hydrology of the watershed was analyzed utilizing
the SEDCAD+ computer program. SEDCAD+ is an enhanced PC version
of the SEDIMOT II computer program written by Civil Software
Design of Lexington, Kentucky. In performing this analysis, the
characteristics of the minesite drainage, reclamation to date and
sediment control procedures were considered.
