Therefore, this consumptive use
will be 10.9 acre -feet per year. This use will only occur for the years of mining.
3) Evaporation will occur as a result of pumping water into the sediment pond and exposing
this water to the surface. Most of the water will seep back into the ground; however, the
surface area of the pond and sump will add approximately 1.0 acres. Using the rate
calculated above of 4.58 acre -feet per acre, this results in a use of 4.58 acre -feet per year.
4) Consumptive use for road dust control will be minor since the access road will be
primarily maintained with magnesium chloride and/or water as needed. Under very dry
conditions and high truck traffic, water may be used. This is estimated at 14.0 acre -feet
per year.
5) Consumptive use for the asphalt plant, wash plant and the screening/crushing plant dust
control sprays are expected to be 22.5 acre -feet per year.
A summary of consumptive uses is given below:
Scenario 1 — During Mining
Scenario 2 — After Mining
Otter Creek Pit December 12 G -
