10. Post -Mine Land Use Breakdown
The reclamation plan will create lakes with minor wetland fringes for wildlife habitat, which is
the primary post mining land use. Two lakes will be created which will be interconnected
through a pair of 24" diameter culverts. Map C -3 shows cross sections of the site for current,
mining and reclamation cases.
The breakdown of post- mining land use is as follows:
- lake surface: 56.6 acres
- wetlands: 1.22 acres
- dryland flat and slope areas: 25.88 acres
- miscellaneous undisturbed easements, etc. 5.5 acres
Total area: 89.2 acres
The North Lake will have an approximate surface area of 41.2 acres and the Southeast Lake will
have an approximate surface area of 15.4 acres. The lake depths will vary from approximately
20 -32 feet depending upon the location within the excavation.
The calculation of the wetland fringe area is based on a width of 6 feet of wetlands over a linear
distance of 8840 feet, which is an area of 1.22 acres.
Otter Creek Pit December 12 E -
