Seeding will normally be done during the fall when temperatures
are cooler. Straw mulch will be used, (certified "weed free ") and applied at a rate of 2,000
pounds per acre and either crimped or "tackified" at 1500 pounds per acre.
6. Post - Reclamation Site Drainage
After reclamation, the vast majority of the permit area will drain to the lakes. The small flat
surface areas above the excavation will also drain at a very minor grade (approximately 2 %) to
the lakes. Any minor area that does not drain to the lakes will be protected from soil erosion by
hay bales until such time as the reclamation of the land is sufficient to reflect the comparable
natural vegetation on undisturbed areas. The site is presently in a relatively level condition, given
current agricultural use. Final reclamation will not significantly alter this topography, other than
the creation of lakes.
Otter Creek Pit December 12 E -6
