As you may recall
from our discussion that afternoon, I further indicated that the
drift was located in an area that would not be inundated by water
for a period of approximately one month. During the month
beginning December 14 , the underground crew continued to pursue
removal of the suspect small capacitors on 602 drift.
As of January 14, 1995, Climax can confirm that all known and
locatable small capacitors on the 600 level have been removed.
Two capacitors that had been located in a failing drift prior to
pump dismantling were removed in December. No other small
capacitors or lamp housings were located after several days of
removing muck from the caved drift.
Should you have any additional questions regarding the
underground cleaning described, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
Bryce R. Romig
Environmental Coordinator
Climax Mine and Mill
