October 1973 <br /> WWj <br /> Fuera Series <br /> The Fuera Series consists of well drained s6i13 formed from shale <br /> on moderate to steeply sloping uplands and side slopes. Slopes are <br /> 15 to 40 percent. Elevation is 7,000 to 9,OW feet. Vegetation is <br /> Douglas fir, Ponderosa pine and sparse understory of grasses. <br /> Precipitation is 18 to 22 inches, mean annual air temperature is 42 to <br /> 450F, and the frost free'season is 80 to U5 days. <br /> Typically the surface is covered by a thin layer of partially <br /> decomposed pine needles. : The surface layer is gray loam about 5 inches <br /> thick. The subsoil Is ish brain own or <br /> gray gray clay loam grading with <br /> depth to pale brown or light brownish gray silty clay about 39 inches <br /> thick. The substratum is' light, brownish gray silty clay loam to <br /> 60 inches or more. The soil is medium acid to neutral. <br /> Permeability is 310W. ',ester holding; capacity is high. Roots <br /> readily penetrate all hcrizon3. This BOU is Used for grazing, <br /> forest, and wildlife. <br />
